[Buch]: self-published, [2021]. Handmade zine with contents pen-plotted by an Axidraw V3 plotter onto a sheet of 160g A4 paper, which has been folded to produce four leaves, including the covers. 11 x 7cm. [8] pages. The cover and three of the interior pages are uniquely generated each plotter session; as such, each copy of the zine is unique. An edition of approximately 35 copies, spanning four print runs, the present offerings being constructed in 2021. As new, sold on behalf of the creator.

bleeptrack is the moniker of Sabine Wieluch, a German educator and practitioner whose work cuts across digital fabrication, DIY electronics, and generative art. In terms of the latter, bleeptrack utilizes machine-learning technologies and also more conventional creative-coding methods. Among her internationally exhibited projects are overflower, a system that generates plant images, and GenChair, in which a procedurally generated chair is carved from plywood based on the outputs of a computer simulation of vein growth in leaves.

In 2018, bleeptrack produced a striking little zine called Generative Kunst for the 35th Chaos Communication Congress, held in Leipzig. Pen-plotted on quality paper by an Axidraw plotter, the zine features images that were procedurally generated by the overflower generator, as well as bleeptrack’s Bugs & Beetles generator, which produces images of fictional insects. Evocatively, the zine copies feature unique images that were generated expressly for the copy at hand—as such, each copy is unique. While this initial run was an edition of three, bleeptrack later produced two subsequent runs of about ten copies each, for two events held in 2019.

Aleator Press is thrilled to offer ten hand-crafted examples from a fourth run of twelve copies of this unique pen-plotted zine, created by request so that we can make the zine widely available for a limited time. We are distributing these on behalf of bleeptrack, who will receive the full proceeds on all sales.

Due to its small size, single copies of this zine may be shipped domestically for $2 and worldwide for $3.
